Skinned alive

For the past week and a half I have been writing a blog on Horse Slaughter. Today I think I will turn the spotlight onto other animals. Many animals are slaughtered inhumanly and are tortured terribly. Pigs are boiled alive, cows are hung and have their neck cut open alive. Baby chickens have their beaks burned off and chickens run around without heads. The production of food is not the only way of slaughter houses. The picture above is a picture of a fox skinned, ALIVE. Often times at fur productions a animal is stunned by being hit in the head, and more than less thrown on the ground to stun it. The animals are skinned alive a lot. They suffer and scream and try to get away from the pain. The more that the animal does it the more the person will force the skin off of the animal. There is evidence that the animal is alive and breathing 10-15 minutes after their skin is torn off and they are thrown into a pile with other skinned animals. Can you imagine the pain of having your skin ripped off alive? It is terrible. Animals deserve so much better than they get. Don’t support animal slaughter houses, or fur slaughter houses.

Getting a little emotional

People keep telling me that I’m only so angry about horse slaughtering because I am a horse fanatic. Sure, I am a horse fanatic. But that doesn’t change the fact about how they are dying. I don’t like any type of slaughtering, it makes it better if it is humane but the real fact is, there is going to be some type of pain in that animal when you kill it. I will get upset if ANY animal gets hurt. From a reptile, to a rabbit, to an elephant.  Animals and people alike deserve to be treated equally. People will go to the  end of the world and sacrifice there life to stop someone from torturing and killing kids or people in general, but it is okay if someone kills an animal. What is the difference between a animal and a human? Sure they look different, but we are all unique, just like them. They cannot talk In our language, they cannot do some things that we do. Animals still have a heart, brain, and a nervous system. They still feel just like we do. It is not fair to put an animal through that for no reason, for our own pleasure of eating. We have many other options of eating. I know meat is good for you and it is the circle of life, but it needs to be done in another way. There are other meats besides horses. It is one thing if you breed the horse for meat, but to take a horse that was someone’s pet and prized possession. The horse will be heartbroken, just like a human. Take a minute and think, what’s so different between us, and them?

Seeing is believing

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xcsd2o_richelieu-part-ii-of-iii-highres_animals?ralg=meta2-only#from=playrelon-1

The video above is a video that the CHDC  (Canadian Horse Defence Coalition) got this secret footage tapes from Quebec's Viandes Richelieu and Alberta's Bouvry Exports, which is known for the largest producer of horse meat to north America. In the video you can clearly tell that the horses are not treated humanely at all! It is so cruel, I don't even know how the people there can deal with that it's so heartless. Many of the horses are shot more than once, and are terrified seeing and smelling other horses dying and bleeding. There are many other videos to this one and you can click on the side to see it. Horse slaughtering is terrible everywhere, not just in America. People can live without horse meat, sure meat is good for you but horse meat can be lived without. Horses are supposed to be wild creatures, or someone’s companion. Not someone's meal. I’m warning you that the video is graphic and is sad and not a good sight but it needs to be seen for some people to realize how mean that is and that you can’t get away with cruelty and you will get caught and it will end.

Save them

The picture above is of a horse named Sunshine, one of many horses at Harris Horse Rescue. Many race horses when they retire from off of the track, they go to the slaughter houses. Almost more times than less they go to slaughter houses because Quarter horses are easily replaceable. Sometimes when the race horses retire they have some kind of issue, or injury and cannot be ridden again. Many horse owners do not want a pasture horse, they want a riding horse. There are many rescues out there that go to auctions and try to save as many horses as they can so they do not go to the slaughter house. There needs to be more rescues like this out there, that give the retired horses what they deserve, a life of love, food, and a green pasture to run in. Horses that do go to the rescues many times are still up for adoption, and some do get adopted. I know when I go to get my own horse in the near future I will be rescuing a horse, maybe not a retired race horse as I think once they retire they should become a pasture horse, but I want to rescue a horse from the slaughter house. Maybe even go to an auction myself, but knowing me I’d come home with more horses than I bargained for.

Premarin?

The picture above is of some horses in stalls at a Premarin farm. Premarin  is broken down as (PREgnant MARes uRINe). It is a medicine for women. The horses are in horrible care. They are pregnant throughout this time, they are forced to stand the last six months of their pregnancy in a very small stall. When the mares are at full term and about to give birth they are let out to have the foal, and soon after they will be forced to become pregnant and go through it again. When the mare has her foal, they are kept together for a while and then, more times than less, there foals are stripped from there moms and sent off to slaughter houses. If they don’t go to slaughter houses, they go to auctions or sold for meat. A filly (baby girl) has only one in ten chance of not going to a slaughter house and a colt (baby boy) only has one in fifty of not going to a slaughter house. The horses are confined often with almost a hundred other mares. Almost every farm has a respiratory problem and there stalls are never cleaned. Their legs get swollen from standing all of the time and from standing in the feces. This may not have much to do with slaughter houses besides the poor foals but it is still cruel. It is so stressful for the mares, that it makes there foals very scared there whole life, and then they get killed. It is unfair and needs to be stopped.

Sign to save their life

Like said on the website, you can see that horse meat isn’t even for good reasoning! They are slaughtered for rich humans to enjoy, not for dog food or for starving people. This needs to end, you can sign the petition when you click on this link to help make horse slaughter houses illegal again. Of course it won’t end horse slaughtering but it will slow down the production and it is a step towards bringing the cruel horse slaughter houses to an end. The petition is to help make the United States Government realize that it is wrong for this to be going on, there are so many petitions out there that I cannot link them all on here, but you can Google it and sign many. I myself have signed over 20 acts. Any signature on any petition can help, even though it may not seem like it because there are so many, but they all add up. If those petitions get all the way to Obama, maybe he will see people are very serious about this and maybe he will make a move to make it illegal again, and hopefully help bring it to an end! So go sign this petition and any other ones you can find! http://www.petitiononline.com/GallopBB/petition.html

Telling the truth

Each year many horses are killed, riding horses, carriage horses, pony’s. They are put in a truck and transported sometimes many miles to the slaughter farm by packs, being huddled together sometimes without food and water for a long period of time. Recently Barack Obama legalized horse slaughter in the United States, many people are livid about this and are wanting to end the act, I have signed many petitions that will try to end horse slaughter. I don't just want to make it illegal in the United States again, I want horse slaughtering to END everywhere. People will argue that it is unfair to only want horse slaughter to end, but not the slaughtering of cows and chickens, etc. but horses are very inhumanly murdered without much care at all. The picture below is two horses in a slaughter house, that are about to be stabbed repeatedly in the back until there spinal cord is severed, and then they are going to be hoisted up and that man will slit their throats. I don't know about you but I don't think I want to die that way.  I believe that that is inhumane and the least that they could do is kill them more humanly, but those people obviously don’t care. But I do. I  got this picture from http://www.kinshipcircle.org/letter_library/letter_new.asp?letterid=1801&seriesfirst=true.
